Best social media scheduler for small business

Small businesses don’t need an enterprise social suite. SchedPilot connects up to 100 accounts for $99 a month, a fraction of what Buffer, RecurPost and Hootsuite charge at the same scale.

A bakery with two locations has, at minimum, an Instagram, a Facebook page, a TikTok account and probably a LinkedIn page nobody updates. Multiply that by two shops and you’re at eight accounts before anyone has posted a croissant. On Hootsuite, giving the owner and one employee access costs $198 a month. That’s a lot of croissants.

I built SchedPilot because I kept watching small businesses either overpay for tools designed for 200-person marketing departments, or give up and post manually whenever someone remembered. So yes, I’m biased. But the pricing math below is public, and you can check all of it.

The two problems small businesses actually have

The first is price, and it’s worse than it looks because of how the big tools bill. Hootsuite charges per user: $99 a month per person on Standard, $199 on Professional, $399 on Advanced. Buffer charges per channel, starting at $6 a month each on Essentials and $12 on Team (that pricing is the main reason people look for Buffer alternatives). RecurPost starts at $9 for two profiles and adds $4 for every profile after that.

Each of those looks cheap on the pricing page. None of them stays cheap once you add a second location, a new platform or a part-time helper. Your bill grows every time your business does something good.

The second problem is complexity. Enterprise social suites are built for teams with a dedicated social media manager who lives in the tool eight hours a day. Social listening dashboards, sentiment analysis, ad management, CRM sync, twelve permission levels. A shop owner who posts on Tuesday night after closing doesn’t need any of it, and has to click past all of it to schedule one post.

SchedPilot does the boring core well: write a post, pick the accounts, set a time, done. It publishes to 9 platforms, including Instagram, TikTok, LinkedIn, Facebook, X, YouTube and Discord (handy if you run a customer community). There’s a content calendar, an image and carousel editor, AI caption suggestions and basic analytics. That’s the whole learning curve. Most people schedule their first week of posts within twenty minutes of signing up.

What it costs compared to the big names

Here’s the same job priced across tools: 20 connected accounts, which is roughly a small business with three or four brands or locations. Monthly billing, list prices as of October 2026.

Tool and plan20 accounts, per monthHow it bills
SchedPilot Gold$39 ($35 billed yearly)Flat, by account bracket
RecurPost Agency$79 (3 users)Per profile
Buffer EssentialsAbout $100 (1 user)Per channel, tiered
Buffer TeamAbout $160Per channel, tiered
Hootsuite Standard$99 per user (and capped at 10 accounts)Per user
Buffer totals worked out from its published channel bands: $6 or $12 each for the first 10 channels, $4 each for channels 11 to 25.

Gold also includes unlimited posts, 5 workspaces (one per brand keeps things tidy), AI-generated posts and replies to comments. You’d pay roughly a third of what Buffer Essentials costs for the same number of accounts.

Up to 100 accounts without the bill exploding

This is where the gap gets silly. SchedPilot’s Enterprise plan connects up to 100 social accounts across 20 workspaces, with 10 team seats, a post approval workflow and a dedicated account manager. It costs $99 a month, or $79 billed yearly.

Run 100 channels through Buffer’s Team plan and the tiered math comes to about $355 a month. Hootsuite would need you on Professional or higher just to lift the account cap, at $199 per user, so ten seats there is close to $2,000 a month. RecurPost’s own plans top out before 100 profiles and send you to a custom Enterprise quote.

Who needs 100 accounts? More small businesses than you’d think. A franchise with twelve locations. A real estate office where every agent has their own Instagram and LinkedIn. A local marketing freelancer handling fifteen clients. These are small businesses by headcount and big ones by account count, and per-seat or per-channel pricing punishes them hardest.

If you don’t need 100 yet, you don’t pay for 100. Silver covers 5 accounts for $29 a month ($21 yearly), Gold 20 accounts for $39, Platinum 40 for $59. Moving up is one click, and the price per account drops as you go.

The extras that matter for a small team

API access is on every plan, including the $21 one. Hootsuite and Buffer generally reserve serious integrations for their higher tiers. With SchedPilot, a developer (or a reasonably technical owner) can connect your Shopify store so every new product gets a scheduled post automatically.

There’s also an MCP server, which lets AI assistants like Claude work with your SchedPilot account directly. You can paste in this week’s specials and ask it to write posts for Instagram and Facebook and schedule them for lunchtime each day. For a business where nobody’s job title says “marketing,” that’s the difference between posting consistently and not posting at all.

And every plan starts with a 7-day free trial. You’re charged $0 until the week ends, and cancelling is one button.

When SchedPilot isn’t the right pick

If you need social listening (tracking every mention of your brand across the internet) or heavily branded client reports, Sprout Social and Hootsuite do that better, and you’ll pay for it. RecurPost is also stronger if your whole strategy is recycling an evergreen content library on a loop. SchedPilot is a newer product, so the ecosystem of tutorials and templates is smaller than Buffer’s.

But most small businesses need to get decent posts out on schedule, across a handful of platforms, without paying enterprise prices or sitting through an onboarding call. For that job, I’d start a SchedPilot trial, connect every account you have, and plan out next week. If you’re on a tight budget, my breakdown of the best social media scheduler for under $100 goes deeper on each plan.
